BinEdit v2.0
(BinMapper)

THE MAPPING WINDOW

Textures: drop down menu displays the current texture pool that's available for mapping.

Texture window: displays working texture, vertices and face lines.

Guides: optionally displays grid markings for easier mapping.

Preview: checkbox toggles real-time texture mapping on the model. This is like auto-proof in a paint program.

Join: joins separated vertice instances.

Layout: spreads face lines to fit the entire texture.

Reset: allows you to start over without closing the mapping window.

Toolbar Buttons: select the mapping modes, described below.

TOOLBAR BUTTONS

Selection Tool

Note: Vertex points can be mapped individually or in groups. Groups must be selected before they can be mapped.

[ Selection Techniques ]

  1. "SELECT ALL VERTICES." Double left click anywhere on the displayed texture.
  2. "SELECT SPECIFIC VERTEX GROUP" (Select group by area). Left click and drag to encompass a vertice group for an area only, then release left click.
  3. "SELECT POINT BY POINT GROUP" (Select group by points). Shift+Left click individual vertex points.
  4. "INVERT/SWITCH" (Toggle selection status). Alt+Left click on a single vertex point or drag to encompass a group.

[ Deselection Techniques ]

  1. "DESELECT ALL VERTICES." Single left click anywhere on the texture window.
  2. "DESELECT INDIVIDUAL VERTICES." Ctrl+Left click to deselect a vertex point.
  3. "DESELECT SPECIFIC GROUP." Ctrl+Left click and drag encompasing a specific vertice group, release left click.

Note: Unselected vertices are green, and selected (tagged) vertices are red.

Scale Group Tool

Note: Scaling only works with Vertex groups, which must first be predefined with the selection tool.

"SCALE VERTEX GROUP." left click and drag anywhere on texture window.

Note: Vertex group is anchored bottom left.

Move Vertex Or Group Tool

Note: Vertex points can be mapped individually or in groups. Groups must be tagged with the selection tool . Single vertices can be moved at any time.

[ Techniques ]

  1. "SINGLE VERTEX" (no selected vertices). Mouse over vertex point, Left click and drag.
  2. "SINGLE VERTEX" (with selected vertices). Mouse over vertex point, Ctrl+Left click and drag.
  3. "VERTEX GROUP" (all selected vertices). Mouse over any of the selected vertices, left click it and drag.

Rotate vertex group tool

Note: Vertex groups must first be tagged with the selection tool.

[ Techniques ]

  1. "ROTATE VERTEX GROUP" (freehand). Mouse over any part of texture window, left click and drag
  2. "ROTATE VERTEX GROUP" (15º increments). Mouse over any part of texture window, shift+left click and drag

Texture Tools

Note. When the mapping window opens, the texture tools box will open too. If it does not open, or if you close it, simply double click any of the toolbar buttons to reopen it.

Info Tab

Number of vertices selected: Displays the number of vertices currently selected.

Curser Position: Displays the cursor's (x,y) coordinates on the current texture.

Hot Vertex: On mouseover, displays the vertex's (x,y) coordinates on the current texture.

Flip/Rotate Tab

Angle: Enter a "± degree" value, then hit "set" to rotate selected vertices accordingly.

Rotate 90º: Rotates all vertices (whether selected or not) 90º counter clockwise.

Flip Horizontally: Flips all vertices (whether selected or not) horizontally, right to left.

Flip Vertically: Flips all vertices (whether selected or not) vertically, top to bottom.

Selected Vertices Only: Only preselected vertices will flip or rotate when checked.

Model Tab

Note. This effects the main BinEdit work space. It does not directly effect mapping. This is used to preview mapping prior to accepting changes. This is an excellent tool.

Angle: Enter a "± degree" value, then hit "set" to precisely rotate the model preview (main window) accordingly.

Axis: Radio buttons designate along which axis to rotate.

Reset: Resets all axes to zero within the preview (main) window. Can be helpful.

Mouse: Left click or, Left click and drag within "clock face" to rotate preview (main window).

Zoom Tab

Note. This magnifies the texture window.

Scale Factor: For precise zooming enter a value (ie 2 = 2:1, -5 = 1:5) then hit set to zoom in/out accordingly.

Zoom In: Magnifies the RAW image by 0.2 each time the button is pressed.

Zoom Out: Zooms out 0.2 each time the button is pressed.

Zoom To Fit: Snaps displayed RAW image back to the default 1:1 scale in the texture window.

Note. Maximizing the mapping window, then zooming in on the texture window allows for very precise mapping detail.

Guides Tab

Show Guides: Toggles (x,y) scales.

Snap To Guides: Toggles the snap feature on and off.

Snap Within: [*] Pixels: Set the desired "snap to" range. What this does is when you are dragging a vertex and come within 5 pixels (default value) of a set guide position then the vertex will quickly snap to that position.
