BINEDIT 2.0+ ILLUSTRATED

Mapping 102

With the Bin Mapper window open the first thing you need to do is select some vertices so you can change where the face is mapped to on the texture. The vertice points are displayed by green dots in the Mapper and there are several ways to tag or select them. In the case above we want to select them all, to do so simply double click on the mapper window and all the vertices will turn to red (selected/tagged). Note that to 'select all' or several you must be in 'Vertex group selection mode'. To learn more about the Bin Mapper modes/tools shown below please visit the BinEdit/ Help/ BinMapper/ Toolbar page.
With your vertices selected change to the 'Vertex group resize mode'. Click on the Bin Mapper window, hold the left mouse button down and drag the vertex group towards the lower left corner until your group is approximately the size and shape you need it to be. Change to 'Vertex group translate mode', mouse over one of the vertices, click on it and drag the group to the area to be mapped to. Now you can fine tune or zero in on exactly where you want the map to be by going back to 'Vertex group resize mode' and adjusting the proportion a little more or by going back to 'Vertex selection mode' click once to deselect all vertices, then to 'Vertex group translate mode' to move vertices individually.
Repeat the above steps to map all the faces and save your newly created bin model after each session.
Note that you can zoom in to your work while mapping by using the zoom tool found in the Texture Tools box, or by right clicking on the Bin Mapper window and dragging an outline of the area you'd like enlarged then release the right button.

Note: If you made your model with triangular faces you will need to select/tag the two triangle faces that make up the one side of the model. And when you open the mapper click the Layout button before you do anything, BinEdit will join the two corner vertices and lay the two faces out ready for mapping.
